Project Afternight Song Tier List

A queue order from Tutorial to 18-key, not a popularity contest.

Song Tier List

Nearly 4,000 charts means a “best songs” list would be a lie. This song tier list is a difficulty and teaching ranking for desktop Project: Afternight. Cosmetic value is ignored — if you need a specific animation, the shop wins. Sister page: mods tier list. How to hit the notes: How to Play.

S — Learn here

Original Friday Night Funkin Tutorial, Week 1 (Bopeebo, Fresh, Dadbattle) on Easy/Normal, and other mid-BPM four-key files with almost no gimmick notes. These teach receptors, holds, and the 70% shop floor without a jumpscare. They also unlock a pile of default-adjacent cosmetics, which is why Getting Started sends you here first.

If S-tier is already boring because you play Psych on PC, skip to A. If S-tier is hard, you need controls and a slower note speed, not a new tab.

A — Real practice

Week 2–4 on Hard if your Week 1 is clean. Readable mid-difficulty ports (Hex-style, well-charted funk weeks, calmer OST tabs). These are the FC farm for accuracy and FC and the 50 unique FCs for custom icons. Versus-friendly if both players already know FNF. Versus modes.

B — Check your HUD

Hard charts with light modcharts, faster jumps, or special notes you must leave on for shop credit. If you hide special notes to survive, you may void the unlock. How rewards work. This is also where you confirm hitsounds and accessibility, because B-tier is where flashes and shakes start to show up.

C — Project charts

Spike files: Mario’s Madness Demise/Powerdown energy, dense 17 Bucks bursts, high-BPM Camellia/Frums-style OSTs, horror event anims that eat FPS. Accuracy here is a project. Do not queue these in a random 1v1 unless the lobby asked. Watch a clip if you want the vibe — the embedded gameplay on versus is this neighborhood.

C-tier is where PCs stutter. Splashes off, camera off, particles down. Settings.

D — Mania, gimmick, badge stacks

8K through 18K showcases (Fangirl Frenzy, Talladega key ramps, Mortem, Rebellion), Shaggy God Mode, stacked modifiers for Where’d They Go? and Randomizer. Keybinds must exist before you press play. Modifiers must be intentional. D-tier is content, not a tutorial.

If your executor autoplays D-tier in public, you are not impressive. You are a kick screenshot. Script safety.

Versus pick rules

Host S/A for mixed lobbies, B if everyone is warmed up, C only with consent, D only with friends who rebound yesterday. Leave the stage if a stranger rolls D. That is not cowardice; Classic Resurrections made leave a feature.

Shop overlay

A D-tier requirement for a cool animation is still a D-tier chart. Either grow into it with the ladder or skip that cosmetic. There is no code that substitutes. Fake codes.

Recharts after Eye of Corruption or older drops can move a file up or down a letter. If a song you FCed last year suddenly feels rewritten, believe the chart, not the memory. Check updates.

Use this list as a filter, then go play one file until it is boring. Boring is the skill.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What should I play after Tutorial?

Week 1 Easy, then Normal, then Hard. That is S-tier doing its job.

Is Insane always D-tier?

No. Some Insane files are dense B/C. Mania keys and stacked mods are the usual D.

Where are mods ranked?

On the mods tier list, with character notes on the mods hub.

Can I skip to C-tier for clips?

You can. You will miss more. Accuracy plan: accuracy and FC.
